Shockwaves in Yellowknife

Yellowknife (CP) In a shocking move the Calder Division leading YDP has just traded away Miro Satan who holds franchise mark for most points in a single season. Satan along with Ordinary Joe Sakic formed one of the most dangerous combinations in the RHL. The two terrorized goalie last season finishing 3rd and 4th respectively in conference scoring. ‘This was a total shock,’ said Satan, ‘I want to thank the organization for their confidence in me and I wish them all the best.’ Satan along with Derek Morris, Alexander Suglobov, David Hale and cash was dealt to the Waterloo Thundercats for Milan Hejduk and Brad Boyes. ‘Derek has done everything we’ve asked of him,’ said Wong, ‘but you need to give up something to get something in return.’ Sources close to the negotiations admitted that Morris was a key part of this deal. ‘As sad as we are to lose quality players in Miro, Derek, Alex and David, we felt the additions of Milan and Brad would really help solidify this team for years to come,’ said Wong. The addition of Hejduk completes the Avalanche line of Tanguay, Sakic & Hejduk. ‘I’m sad to see Miro go, we had great chemistry,’ said Sakic, ‘but Milan, Alex and I are brothers from different mothers it won’t take us long to rekindle our chemistry.’ In addition to this trade, YDP has also signed Mike Leclerc to a one year contract at the league minimum.

Interesting deal. I'm having a little trouble digesting all of it, having not loked at the differences between Hejduk and Satan in a while. My memory tells me Hejduk's numbers might be better (looking now), and that certainly seems to be the case. Looks like you get the now help with hejduk and the then help with Boyes.

I had some depth in the back and not enough up front for now and later. Hopefully the Tanguay, Sakic, Hejduk chemistry works on the sim.

You should be good. As you may have saw here here, I thought you really mad eout on the deal, not so much because of the Hejduk stuff, but you got Boyes and "lost" Morris. Well done.

Thanks for the vote of confidents. Dispite his ratings Morris actually did a lot for me, ate minutes, reliable on the PK capable 2nd unit PP guy and was always a plus guy. Hopefully his lose won't come back to haunt me.

I think I tend to underrate the role of minute-eating in my analyses. I mentioned it briefly as a positive for Jason, but if I have a choice between a.) employing a minutes-eater, and b.) dressing seven defensemen and eleven forwards, I'd rather do option B. In my current circumstance, I consider the combination of Zizka and Eriksson better than having Morris. But, I certainly understand that I'm in the minority (and am probably wrong).

Morris, seems his stock has really sunk in these last few seasons. Interestingly, was watching a Flames-only show that is on Rogers SportsNet (don't ask me why the Oilers don't get one) and they had their old GM on it. During the chat, he had mentioned that he had turned down an offer back in the day for a straight up Morris-for-Roberto Luongo deal. He laughed it off on the show, saying that Morris was a prized possession back then...

Well I don't think his stock has dropped. I'm just dealing from a surplus position when it comes to d-men. I guess it doesn't help playing in Phoenix versus a place like Colorado or Calgary. As for the show, never watched it :), usually something better is on like Gilmour Girls or the Notebook :). You're also talking about a franchise that had a banner raising ceremony for winning the division :).

The Notebook? Rachel McAdams? (sigh)

I haven't seen that much of Phoenix this year, so I won't comment on Morris's real-life value. In the RHL, though, his ratings don't measure up to his contract. Good dump.
